Lux Hosting Router Instructions

If you are connected to the internet through a router then you must enable what is usually called 'Port Forwarding' or 'Virtual Server' on your router. This means that anything sent to the specified port (6619 for Lux, 3319 for Vox) will be sent through to the desired computer (yours).

Find the needed IP addresses
The first step in doing this is finding out your router's IP address as well as your local IP address. Here are instructions for finding this out while using Mac OS X or on Microsoft Windows or on Linux. IP addresses look like '192.168.0.1', but your numbers might be different.

Access your router's web interface
Once you have these two addresses you can proceed to configure your router. To start with you must access the web interface of your router. You do this by typing your router's address into the location bar in your internet browser. Try using the Internet Explorer browser if it isn't working.

When entering your router's web interface you might be asked to enter your username and password. This info will depend on the router, good combos to try are 'admin' with no password or 'admin' with password 'admin'.

Enable Port Forwarding for your IP address and port 3319 or 6619
Once you are inside of your router's web interface you must set it to forward port 6619 (or 3319 for Vox) to your computer's IP address. This will likely be under a section called 'Port Forwarding' or 'Virtual Server'. Enter 6619 or 3319 as the port (twice if needed), your computer's IP address as the place to send it, and using TCP as the protocol. Save this info and you are done.

Hint: Some routers make it hard to find the place where you enter this information, but it has to be there somewhere. You might have to look inside an 'advanced' section.
